It’s believed the demand for audiobooks will continue to move upwards. Lots of people now prefer to use audiobooks instead of ebooks or even paperback books.

“I’ve added a new FREE tool that does the same for audiobooks.

This has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time because the ranking for audiobooks on Amazon/Audible runs on a different system from ebooks and print books. That made audiobooks incompatible with my original book sales calculator.

All you have to do is find your best seller rank by visiting the Amazon page of any given audiobook, then going to the details section and selecting the top number you see under “Best Sellers Rank”.

 

Then you just pop that number into the Audiobook Sales Calculator and PRESTO! You have an estimated number of sales per day for that audiobook.

What is Amazon KDP global fund?

Amazon KDP global fund also known as the Kindle Select Global Fund is based on the subscription fees paid by the total number of Kindle Unlimited (KU) members.

As a result of the fact above, as KU members join or leave, the KDP Global Fund changes (increases or decreases).

The program allows authors to receive payouts for the previous month’s page reads of their book(s).

 

Global fund payouts

The global fund payouts vary according to the readers’ home country. According to Amazon:

The share of funds allocated to each country varies based on a number of factors, such as exchange rates, customer reading behavior, and local subscription pricing. How do you qualify for Amazon KDP global fund payout?

To qualify for Amazon KDP global fund payouts,  you must be enrolled in KDP Select. Enrollment in KDP select makes your ebook “exclusive” to Amazon and available through Kindle Unlimited. This implies that your published ebook on Amazon must not be published as an ebook in any other online store or library.

When an Amazon KU member reads your ebook, you get paid for every page they read.

You should understand that the KDP global fund payouts do not in any way stop the self-publishing royalties you receive from Amazon when your book is purchased the usual way on Amazon.com.

My first experience with writing a novel was an exciting one. I have always written Christian non fictions (Christian Personal Development books).

But after I read an interesting novel about the civil war in my country (can’t really remember the name of the novel now), I just rise to start writing my first Christian novel using the experience and noted I made from that novel.

Then, I completed my first Christian novel, Wealth Codes. Well, after this, I took further steps to write more.

Then, I wrote my bestselling Christian romance novel, The Prostitute. An interesting Christian fiction you need to read.

Selling eBooks as online courses is one of the most profitable ventures for authors today. If you have been publishing and selling ebooks on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and other online stores, you may have to look at selling your ebooks as online courses.

I will be using this post to share our experiences with you so that you can get motivated and inspired to try this out. I will be using a future post to share the steps by steps process of turning your eBooks into online courses

Selling eBooks as online courses: Our experience

We decided to start turning some of our books into online courses to sell online in our bid to diversify our earnings and to ensure Amazon does not remain the only platform we sell books.

Other formats of ebooks

First, you should know your published ebooks can exist in many forms other than ebooks or paperback books.

Ebooks can be packaged as:

• Videos
• Online courses
• Podcasts
• Blogs etc.

So we are still talking about books when we talk about online courses.

 

Selling eBooks as online courses: Udemy

We started with the biggest platform for online courses online – udemy.com

What a platform this has been for us. This is the Amazon for online courses online. We started about three years or so and we have drawn some passive income from this platform even without paid ads.

We can still push this up with ads though. It’s just that we don’t know the right place to advertise courses on Udemy. I am not a big fan of Facebook ads.

I have also received some emails from those who took our online courses on udemy.com offering ads services. We have not used any of them.

 

What Udemy gives you

The truth is that Udemy gives extra promotions to the courses on its platform. Though, if you sell any course through their self-sponsored ads, you will receive a lower royalty.

Selling eBooks as online courses: 10 published courses

We now have about 10 online courses on this platform. We have lots of enrolled students and reviews on our online courses at Udemy.

The good news is that Udemy now pays by Payoneer. It used to be by PayPal alone. So you have another payment option to consider.

 

Other Udemy alternatives

There are other Udemy alternatives to sell online courses online but a lot are not reliable. We tried some of them but our experience with some is not too good at all.

Learndesk.us for example was a bad experience. You should watch out for that. The CEO, Vivien Puri is deceitful.

We canceled our account and up till today, Learndesk has failed to pay our royalties. When we applied for the cancelation of our account, we were told that our royalties will be paid after one year!

We waited and it’s over one and a half years now, Puri and Learndesk have stopped responding to our emails. Please avoid Learndesk as much as possible.

How to create an online course

I know the question on your mind now is how do I create an online course and how do I publish it on Udemy?

Really we have not done an ebook or an online course on this but we hope to do it very very soon. We will even do a post on it.

Bugs are, in computer technology, coding errors in a computer program. A computer program is the microcode that is manufactured into a microprocessor.

Usually, a process of dubugging is carried out by the software owner before the users of the software find out the errors in the software. Dubugging is therefore the process of finding bugs.

Naturally, anytime there are glitches of the types we are seeing recently in the world’s largest bookseller, KDP authors tend to get a little nervous.

According to a report monitored on the Kindlepreneur blog, the following represent the bugs that have been noticed so far on Amazon KDP:

1. Some prices are increasing for no reason (while the author still gets the lesser royalties)
2. Some books are not appearing in their chosen categories, even if Amazon says they are
3. There has been a rise in terminated accounts

Is this happening to all Amazon KDP authors?

Just before you hit the panic button as an Amazon KDP author, read the cheering news from the Kindlepreneur blog:

Now, this isn’t happening for everyone, but there is a definite trend among the feedback we’ve been receiving, and the data we’re seeing in Publisher Rocket.

 

What can you do as a KDP author?

You should understand that there may be other bugs apart from the ones reported by the Kindlepreneur blog. You should be on the watch over your Amazon KDP account.

If you notice any glitch, you can always get in touch with the ever-reliable Amazon KDP support via email or phone call. They will be ready to help you.

In the meantime, you should read an article on the Kindlepreneur blog to get more information about this problem. The article will show you how you can identify the bugs, and ways to solve them if your book falls victim.
